Reset Your Health After Kids

By Jessica Campbell, MS, FNTP

Does your day feel like this?

I only have 2 kids, why does it feel like 8, are they multiplying? I love pets, but who thought it was a good idea to get a dog, did we need another mouth to feed? I have a headache, I can’t remember where I put my phone, and I have no intention of cooking a meal the kids won’t like when it’s just going to make me gassy and bloated anyway!

Feeling like a hot mess with a dirty table?

Do you remember when the term ‘dirty table’ meant a little something more like this?

Very sexy… like the cover of a juicy romance novel.

A carefree woman who knows exactly what she wants. A little different perspective on the term dirty table… right?

If you’re thinking oh no that type of sexy is what got us in this mess in the first place, I’m here to tell you, no matter what age, it’s OK and even healthy for a woman to want her sexy back.

A fertile body is a healthy body, even if you have no intention of using that fertility.

Why am I so tired all the time?

Have your ever seen other mommies taking pilates and wondered, “why can’t I get my a$$ out of bed?”

Did you try going to the doctor to ask why the hell you were so tired and sad all the time? If your visit went anything like mine, it probably didn’t end up in hope and rainbows.

When my dirty table felt more like the first photo, my symptoms were so common, it’s a miracle we didn’t discover what I had brewing in my body. I needed my doctor to listen to my whole story, not try to cover up my individual symptoms with medication. I wanted to be heard and I needed help to put together my massive brain fog, headaches, fibroids, chronic fatigue, and gut-wrenching pain every time I ate. There had to be a common root cause!

“It looks like postpartum depression, you need a prescription.” Really? I know postpartum is a real problem but I think I’m just a little sad that I feel like crap all the time!

Then, out of curiosity I looked up the anti-depressant I was being offered to see if it cured all of these ailments I was experiencing, that would make sense, right?

Lexapro, Citalopram, Paxil, Zoloft, Prozac… such cute names I couldn’t decide which one was best. The way they worked was to stop my brain from being able to reuse serotonin, the feel-good hormone so that it appeared like there was more. It would take the edge off at first, but then leave me with little to no production of my serotonin which could lead to depression and suicide and a need to take this forever. Wait, what?!?!

I mean, sometimes we need to take the edge off, and there is no shame in that. *When it comes to depression and postpartum, it’s good to consider all the tools available, but I was looking for a long-term solution that did not involve more depressing days.

It wasn’t until I went back to school and read these same symptoms over and over in my research that I found the common root cause. All of these symptoms were also tied to inflammation, and it was like a lightbulb came on in my head.

Inflammation In The Body

Inflammation is a term for redness, swelling, heat, and pain. Yes, my gut feels like a red, hot, fire, yes I feel like a bloated balloon, and yes, there is too much pain! Those feelings are making me sad, yes, this makes sense.

Even better, there were real, evidence-based, holistic solutions to resolve inflammation without the need for a lifetime of prescriptions. I felt like I had found a hidden treasure.

When I began to try these solutions, my fibroid went from looking like I left one of the baby’s legs in my belly, to “where did it go?” My skin lost the red rashy prickles, and I stopped feeling that red, hot, pain in my belly.  I no longer felt like the State Puff Marshmallow Man since I wasn’t fat, but simply felt super bloated. Most of all the depressing fog that hovered around my mommy’s brain, like an Eeyore syndrome began to fade away and I felt my energy come back like a horny teenager.

I’ve been writing these solutions for clients for the past 8 years and have helped dozens of women reduce inflammation and get pregnant after failed IVF treatments. I witnessed over 60 moms lose 15+ pounds and stop feeling like a dumpster fire was burning in their gut all day, and I’ve helped hundreds of women balance their hormones and energy to finally feel like they got their sexy back.

Putting out the fire of inflammation helped me get from the dirty table in the first image, to the hot for teacher dirty table in the second image. It worked for me, it worked for my clients, and it will work for you.

I’m here to help you stop the fire of inflammation from burning out your energy and use it to fire up your energy! I want to build a community of women ready to go from being the tired mom to the thriving mom. I’ve created an easy 3 step process that I want to share with you.

Stay tuned next month for my free event where we will do a deep dive into this topic and get you on the path to better health!
