Nom Nom Paleo Fans

My daughter shares my passion for nutrition, but she has a refreshing approach that makes my inner science geek relax and remember to enjoy the art of food. She reminds me of Michelle Tam from the New York Times Bestselling Cook Book, Nom Nom Paleo. I had the honor of meeting Michelle at a Health Symposium at UCSF. I was sitting with hundreds of health practitioners listening to scientific research about a Paleo approach to diet and studying charts such as these:

Fun right?

Then up walks Michelle Tam to talk about Umami, the 5th sense of taste. I love how Michelle never tries to be anything she's not.  She shared with us that she's not even a true "chef," as her real, chef, sister constantly reminds her, but a cooking enthusiast.  Although she studied science at UCSF, she backed away from all scientific questions and reminded us that what's really important is that food tastes good.

Cheers to you Michelle!

If you're not familiar with Michelle Tam, I highly recommend you look up her Nom Nom Paleo cookbook, blog, or podcast for some super inspiring recipes and cooking tips. My daughter loves to watch Michelle cook up recipes on Periscope and sends her hearts and love. I love that the Whole Foods near me will mark dishes in the cooler with a Nom Nom Paleo sticker if they don't contain grains, dairy, or canola oil.

When I shared what a fan my daughter is, Michelle shared a mini figure doll with Sierra and it arrived on her 10th birthday. I just had to share what happened next, it's too darn cute!

Sierra built a Nom Nom Paleo stage with Michelle Tam in her famous pigtails and cooking supplies handy. I love how the pan is sizzling with eggs and bacon with a colored in fire pit and the knives are hung on the wall for easy access.

This is what food bloggers are all about and it makes me proud to be one. We can inspire our youth to learn to cook REAL food and we will change the health of our future generations through enthusiastic cooking!

Thank you Michelle Tam, you have no idea what your small gift meant to us here at Food Foundation.
